Just This

“Just This” is a quick breathing technique that is helpful when feeling overwhelmed with everything that you need to get done.

To do this, simply stop for 30 seconds to a minute, close your eyes and as you breathe in say silently in your head “Just”, as you exhale say silently in your head “This”.

This helps us to remind ourselves that we can only do one thing at a time. So what we need to focus on is “just this”, i.e. just what is happening now.

I taught this to a group of middle school dancers several years ago. Following that class one of the dancer’s Moms texted me the picture above. This dancer had created this sign and placed it in her room to remind her to not be so stressed about the future and just focus on what is happening now.
