A new study finds benefits to cutting your time on social media to 30 minutes a day

In our workshops and some of our longer-form programs we discuss the impact technology may have on creating toxic stress in our lives. A new study by researchers at the University of Pennsylvania further strengthens the argument for limiting technology use. Key takeaways from the study include:

  • After just 3 weeks, individuals who limited social media use showed “significant reductions in loneliness and depression“

  • Most other studies have shown a correlation between social media use and issues with mental health, while this study was one of the first to show a potential cause-and-effect relationship between the two.

  • “Our findings strongly suggest that limiting social media use to approximately 30 minutes per day may lead to significant improvement in well-being.”
