I recently completed an online class by doctors at the Harvard Medical School on the latest ideas and advancements in promoting health and wellness in our population. They presented the propensity to illness equation (see image below).
As with any fraction, to decrease the final % result you can either decrease the numerator (top #) or increase the denominator (bottom #).
In this case we have the greatest opportunity to decrease the percentage chance we will come down with sickness or disease by lowering our stress (in the numerator) and increasing our resiliency factors (in the denominator).
The great news is the doctors said that mind body practices (like many of the ones discussed on this site) accomplish both a reduction stress and an increase resiliency.
