A couple weeks ago I wrote about how mind body techniques can have positive effects on your brain functioning. Well, recent research is discovering it can affect the size of the brain as well.
Dr. Eileen Luders, from UCLA’s Department of Neurology, ran a test comparing the brain mass of a group of meditators and non-meditators. They discovered that the meditators were able to keep more of their brain mass as shown in the scanned images.
Another study by Dr. Sara Lazu, a neuroscientist from the Harvard Medical School, showed that non-meditators had increased thickening of four brain regions after only 8 short weeks of practicing the technique!
