It may be hard to believe, but whether you have a positive and optimistic outlook or negative and pessimistic outlook may actually have a direct relation on the income you earn and the profits your company makes. In the book Broadcasting Happiness, author Michelle Gielan provides a couple examples that demonstrate this.
The first was a large-scale experiment done at MetLife which found that optimistic sales people outsold their pessimistic colleagues by 37 percent!
The second example was at Nationwide Insurance. This company partnered with GoodThink, Inc., the company Michelle co-founded with Shawn Achor, best selling author of the Happiness Advantage to roll out a positive psychology-based workshop called Orange Frog to thousands of its employees. The results were pretty remarkable – revenues tripled and they experienced the largest improvement in engagements scores across all of Nationwide Insurance.
So taking the time to promote positivity in your life can have a positive impact on your personal and/or business bottom line as well.
