Continuing to share the techniques and information I learned from the Mindful Leadership Summit at the beginning of November, I have some interesting facts about stress and a great technique to help you quickly re-energize, re-stabilize and re-focus during your day.
Stress & Your Doctor
As I talk about a lot, toxic stress is detrimental to our health. Based on the presentations from this Summit, anywhere from 60%-80% of doctor visits are for stress-related conditions. What is shocking is the data that came back from the Stress Less Study of Primary Care Physicians. In this study they found that even with stress having such a huge impact on our health…
Although this may be a weakness of the healthcare system itself, rather than the individual doctors, it still means it is up to you and I to learn ways to manage stress on our own.
As you likely know, your typical conference consists of a lot of sitting and listening. To help maintain the focus and energy of the audience the conference hosts had Cara Bradley conduct some mindful movement sessions. We did these once in the morning, right after lunch and once in the late afternoon. It definitely helped to increase my energy and enhance my ability to stay focused on the speakers. This is a great strategy to try if you are someone who needs to sit at a desk for long periods of time throughout the day. The technique only takes a about five minutes. I shared one of Cara’s YouTube videos below if you want to try it out.
Wishing you success in all aspects of life,
