The Mindful Minute is a suggestion from Rana Chudnofsky, MEd who was one of the breakout speakers at the Mind Body Medicine Conference that I attended at Harvard Medical School in October. She suggested building the habit to take a Mindful Minute a few times every day in which you do nothing but focus on your breath.
To make this as easy and least distracting as possible, she suggests timing exactly how many breaths you typically take in one minute. Try that now. Use the timer app on your phone or a clock with a second hand to time yourself for one minute. During this minute, count out how many breaths you take during that period of time.
Ok, how many did you have…8, 12, 14? Remember that number. Now, periodically throughout your day or whenever you need it, take your Mindful Minute by stopping, focusing on nothing else but your breathing and counting out however many breaths you had when you timed yourself for that one minute.
Wishing you success in all aspects of life,
